ISLAND 3 SECRET CATCH

How to Catch Bing Bong

Find the one palm tree that sells a Coconut, make the cast only after you are ready, then use the trees and sustained ranged damage to finish the fight.

FIELD GUIDEUPDATED AUGUST 28, 2026ENGLISH

Quick answer: On Desert Island, stand on the small rock beside the central palm tree and look up to buy the Coconut for $350. Equip it on a Fishing Rod and cast into the water. Bing Bong is pulled in by that lure; once it lands, keep your distance and use sustained ranged damage while the trees interrupt its movement.

1. Find the Coconut tree

The Coconut is not stocked by the normal island shop. Look for the palm tree near the centre of Island 3 with a small rock at its base. The purchase prompt is high in the leaves, so standing on the rock makes it much easier to reach.

2. Buy the Coconut for $350

Climb or jump onto the rock, aim into the palm canopy and move the crosshair until the Coconut purchase prompt appears. Pay $350 and make sure the lure is visible in your inventory before stepping away.

3. Catch Bing Bong

  1. Equip a normal Fishing Rod.
  2. Select the Coconut as the active lure.
  3. Cast from the Desert Island shoreline.
  4. Reel normally until the creature reaches land.
  5. Switch to your combat weapon immediately.

4. Defeat Bing Bong

Bing Bong moves quickly after landing. A strong SMG or another sustained ranged weapon is safer than trying to stay in melee range. Move around the island trees so the creature has to change direction while you keep firing.

Difficulty changes the numbersPatch 1.0.9 added Easy and Hard settings. Avoid relying on one health or damage value from a video; the route and Coconut trigger stay the same, but fight length changes by difficulty.

Common mistakes

  • Checking the shop instead of the palm tree itself.
  • Looking at the trunk instead of aiming high into the leaves.
  • Spending the Coconut before buying ammunition.
  • Finishing the reel with no clear movement route.
  • Standing still while trying to empty a full magazine.
  • Treating this optional secret as required for the Pufferfish quest.
